"I just listened to Steve March Torme's new CD "Inside/Out".
I've heard Steve's jazz stuff over the years and have always been impressed
with his grasp of how to pull off that very difficult music. He makes
it sound easy.
This CD has the man doing original stuff and applying his jazz chops
to his own music and it works really well. The playing on the record,
especially Gary Herbig's always great woodwind performances, is top of
the line; I've always loved Gary's sound so it was no surprise when I
looked and saw his name.
The thing that nailed me most is the creativity of the progressions
themselves and how he sings/plays through very new changes effortlessly.
The lyrics are very personal and sometimes even humorous.
I could go on but the cutting room floor has enough of my BS on it already.
Listen to this album. You'll like it." Bill

"With 'inside/out', Steve March Torme displays a golden voice and
a lyric sensitivity that combine with the easy flow of a natural story-teller
and an ability to navigate a wide range of pop and jazz genres."
---Fee Waybill
(Songwriter/Lead singer of THE TUBES)
This guy is a chip off the old block only hipper. The vocals are great,
the arrangements are very cool and almost "Steely Dan 'ish'." I
love "Say It Ain't So." Who knew? I knew this guy could pitch
but I didn't know he could hit it out of the park. This is a great record!"

(Keyboardist/Arranger, PHIL COLLINS, GINO VANNELLI,
STEPHEN BISHOP)
Steve has been a good friend for over 25 years. We've worked
together on all kinds of music and I've performed with Steve on numerous
occasions. Inside/Out is his best work yet. His singing is more assured
than ever and he has created a style that suggests and develops rather
than imitates. As always, Steve's lyrics are clever and evocative and
touch on familiar subjects in quite refreshingly new ways. The playing
on this record is, of course, first rate; you'll hear some of LA's
finest session musicians. A well-deserved five stars.

"I simply want to say that "inside/out" is a marvelous
example of a truly artistic endeavour that I am thrilled to be a part
of!"

"Steve March Tormé has a voice that already makes the birds sing
and combined with his writing on this great CD takes you to one of those
lovely sunny places you don't want to leave. Like a book you can't put
down, or a smile you don't want to stop lookinG at!! Really Beautiful."

fellow musician)
Really enjoyed your new release, especially Smoke in the Dark,
He is Me, a Different Time....well, all of it. Also thought John and
Valerie was a strange and interesting song--almost an Outer Limits
episode running through your head when you listen to it. The autobiographical
themes in the songs also work well with my own sentiments and sense
of passing time. Fine lyrics and tunes, nice instrumental work and
of course great vocals.

and fellow musician)
"I'm a former drummer and a fan of big bands, so Steve March Torme
had me hooked with the sonorous Swing Era riffs in So Far, where he demonstrated
beyond doubt his vocal bona fides. But with Inside/Out, he's also established
a crystalline mastery of piano, synthesizer, and acoustic guitar. This
is a tight, taut, trim, and tidy exercise in advanced musicianship, simultaneously
soothing, touching, and wondrously worldly. It's unfair that one body
is inhabited by so many skills."
---Jon Pousette-Dart (singer/songwriter/guitarist)
When you are born with music in your blood it is hard to escape it.
I was fortunate to cross paths with Steve early in both of our careers
in Denver at a time when the musical landscape was rich with talent in
the early 70's. It was a pleasure to connect then, as it is is all these
years later and to hear his continued, tried and true connection to the
song. When music is rooted in the real domain of roots and honesty, it
only gets better as it matures. I hear that loud and clear in Steve's
voice and his writing. Hope our paths cross again. Enjoy this heartfelt
release."
Steve Tormé has a new album released this year called “Inside/Out”!
It is a masterpiece for those looking to relax late at night or those
long highway weekend vacations.
Tormé has matured as a song writer, and grown confident in his vocal
abilities and seems to have a better understanding of how his music should
feel and sound. He stands as his own man, no longer in the shadows of
past giants.
The opening salvo on the album is called “A Night at the Zoo”, and
is the type of song that parents with young children will understand
how quickly life can change from time when you were young to an adult.
Track 5 “Of a Child” features his younger up and coming brother James
helping out with the backing vocals. And track 8 “Una Nocha En Majorca”
is a soothing instrumental song that calms the nerves in these tense
times which we live in. My particular favorite song from this magical
collection is the final track “A Different Time”.
Production is clean throughout the album, and not over produced. All
12 tracks are solid from beginning to end. Steve Tormé’s music has sort
of a warm, comforting vibe.
The album has great linear notes, and fantastic pictures from his personal
photo collection. Great package for people who like value for money.
Go and buy this album at his website www.SteveMarchTorme.com and other
music websites.
